Expansion & Movement Joint Systems

Expansion & Movement Joint Systems

Engineered joint systems for structures subject to movement, traffic and water exposure.

THE CHALLENGE

What it solves

Structures move. Joints that cannot accommodate that movement crack at the edges, leak, and become trip and wheel-impact hazards. EXP J1 is a flush trafficable mechanical expansion-joint system using polyurethane nosings, EPDM extrusion and an underlying waterproof membrane.

Common Problems

Desired Outcomes

  • Watertight joints
  • Flush trafficable transitions
  • Managed structural movement
ADVANTAGES

Key Benefits

Superior Durability & Abrasion Resistance

High-performance polyurethane nosings resist abrasion and impact from heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic, reducing premature wear in demanding environments.

Integrated Waterproof Protection

A double-laminated Hypalon membrane creates a continuous waterproof barrier beneath the expansion joint, helping prevent water ingress and protect the underlying structure.

Accommodates Structural Movement

The flexible EPDM centre extrusion accommodates thermal expansion, contraction and structural movement while maintaining the joint's functional integrity.

Flush, Trafficable Surface

The flush-mounted design provides a level transition across expansion joints, reducing trip hazards and supporting vehicle and pedestrian movement.

Chemical & Environmental Resistance

Designed to resist exposure to oils, fuels, de-icing salts, UV and ozone, supporting long-term performance in exposed industrial environments.

Reduced Maintenance & Easier Refurbishment

The polyurethane nosings and EPDM extrusion can be replaced independently of the waterproof membrane, simplifying refurbishment and helping reduce long-term maintenance costs.
