Industrial Concrete Grind & Seal

Nuvo Flooring completed a specialised concrete grinding and sealing project at an industrial facility, transforming the existing concrete into a smooth, uniform and durable finished surface.

The project focused on achieving consistent aggregate exposure through precision mechanical grinding, followed by surface repairs and the application of a protective clear epoxy coating.

The existing concrete underwent a three-stage mechanical grinding process using an HTC 800 industrial floor grinder.

1. Stage 1 – 25 Grit

   Initial grinding to remove surface imperfections and begin exposing the aggregate within the concrete.

2. Stage 2 – 80 Grit

   Intermediate grinding to refine the surface and establish a more consistent aggregate exposure.

3. Stage 3 – 120 Grit

   Final grinding to achieve an even, refined surface profile in preparation for sealing.

Particular attention was given to achieving uniform stone exposure throughout the floor, creating a consistent and natural concrete appearance.

Following the grinding process, a scraper coat was applied to fill surface voids, pinholes and minor imperfections, ensuring a more uniform substrate before sealing.

The prepared concrete was then sealed using Nuvo Clear Coat Epoxy, applied in two coats to provide a protective finish while highlighting the natural aggregate and character of the concrete.

The completed installation delivered a refined, exposed-aggregate concrete floor with a consistent finish and enhanced surface protection.

By combining progressive mechanical grinding, targeted surface repairs and a two-coat clear epoxy sealing system, Nuvo Flooring achieved a durable, low-maintenance flooring solution that preserves the natural appearance of the concrete while improving its resistance to everyday wear.
